6 Tips to Travel More
We don’t know where the time has gone, but somehow it’s now 2019 and a whole new year upon us! Although we’re still contemplating the notion that someone has pressed fast-forward on the world clock, we’ve also decided to embrace the fact that we have a whole year to make changes, new plans, and resolutions that we definitely won’t break. Like many other people across the globe, our New Year’s resolution is to fill up our passports and travel more.
But how do you do that? Here are six tips to help you travel more in 2019.
Enjoy a staycation
In a world where everyone is busy working, finding the time to travel and go on holiday can seem like an impossible task. However, it doesn’t have to be as difficult as it sounds. Getting out there and exploring what Mother Nature has blessed us with doesn’t require long-haul flights and week-long breaks. You can instead stay closer to home in the ultimate staycation. There’s a high chance you live just a few hours away from an incredible destination you’ve never been to before. So why not give it a chance?
Try to save as much as possible
If travelling was free, we’d be out of the door quicker than you can say “passport.” Unfortunately, travelling is actually quite expensive, and this just adds up when you want to see as much as possible. Most people can’t afford to go on six holidays a year, but there are measures you can take to keep this number as high as you can. The Secret Traveller blog at 1Cover notes that the ability to save and manage your money is one of the best ways to see the world, so start filling up that piggy bank.
Become a travel hacker
Although there are some people in the world that hate technology, you can’t deny that it can be super helpful. If your New Year’s resolution is to travel more in 2019, the internet will soon become your best friend. In fact, you’ll be a travel hacker in no time. Travel hacking is the best way to get more for your money when it comes to flights and accommodation. It involves taking advantage of air miles and customer credit cards to get discounted holidays – and sometimes even a few freebies!
Make the most of your weekends
Many people believe that you have to take a week off work to truly enjoy your travels. However, that just isn’t true. If you want to travel more in 2019, all you need to do is take advantage of your weekends. Over the course of one weekend you can experience an epic city break that isn’t too far away from home. Board your flight on the Friday evening, spend Saturday and Sunday exploring a new destination, and fly back for work on the Monday. It’s simple.
Become a landlord
It may seem odd to take on more responsibility when you want to travel more, but it really does make sense. If you’re worried about the cost of travelling, becoming a landlord could seriously help you out. Airbnb offers travellers the chance to rent out people’s homes for the duration of their stay, and they will pay good money to do so. So, by renting out your home while you are on holiday, you can add a few extra coins to your bank account while living it up on your travels.
Switch up your job
If you’re serious about your travelling plans in 2019, you might want to think about your job and your career. Is it what you want to do? Do you love it more than the thought of travelling? If your job does not allow you the chance to feed your travel bug, it’s time to consider your options. There are some people who decide to quit altogether to become a full-time traveller, while there are others who strike a deal with their boss to work remotely. If you can do this, you really can work anywhere in the world. 2019 is going to be your year to travel more, we can feel it!
