7 Days to an Abundant Life
It can be easy for us to fall off track in life sometimes. Maybe you have been working too much, you are struggling to keep up with family demands or your relationships are simply not where you would like them to be. Whatever, these may be, we can often be left feeling like we are stuck in a rut and no matter what we do, we can’t get out of it.
Having experienced something similar myself recently, I decided to set myself a 7 Day Challenge, where I would do something small for myself daily. By shifting my focus and attention to myself, not only did I start to feel more energised and connected, but I felt supported.
Too often we can go through life, expecting support and love to come from others, without realising that when this is lacking we do have an alternative option that is always available to us. Rather than wait or depend on others to provide this, we can in fact generate this ourselves.
Here is the 7 Day Challenge I created and took myself to get my life back to its abundant best!
Day 1: Be grateful
Our human default position has become one that focuses on all that we don’t have. Whether this be time, health, money or love. This leads to what is known as a “lack mentality.” By flipping the switch and instead focusing on what we do have, not only does this allow us to shift perception but it allows us to see that we actually have more in life than we realised. Start by ending your day with focusing on 3 things you are grateful for that day.
Day 2: Be Inspired
When was the last time you allowed yourself to feel inspired? Allowing yourself to feel inspired by someone else is a great way to improve how you are feeling. Whether this be by reading an autobiography, watching a documentary or listening to a Ted Talk. My favourite documentary is one called I am Malala. The story of a 14 year-old girl from Pakistan who paid the price for standing up to the Taliban over education. Malala’s courage and determination is my go-to whenever I need to feel inspired and motivated.
Day 3: Create your vision
Bring your own vision to life through a vision board. A vision board is the visual way of attracting the things we wish for in life. You can create these on line through websites such as dream it alive or make a physical vision board. Personally however, I prefer to create a physical vision board and love finding images either online to print off or in old magazines. Once you have created your vision board ask yourself daily what is the number one thing you can do daily to bring yourself closer to the images you dream of.
Day 4: Move your body!
It is no secret the benefits that exercise has on the mind. When we move our bodies we are shaking up the energy within our cells which is particularly great if you are feeling stale or out of sorts. Exercise also boosts your endorphins which releases a chemical from your brain flooding your body with happy hormones. So move your body even if it is only for 10 minutes a day.
Day 5: Change your environment
Our environments play a big role in how we perform and feel. A great way to get energy flowing is to change our environments up a bit. This can be through a good de-cluttering session, cleaning your desk, putting fresh flowers in each room, painting a wall, hanging a picture, or lighting a scented candle. Simple changes in our environment can lead to big energetic shifts.
Day 6: Have a technology free evening
Go technology free for an evening. That means no phones, no tablets, no laptops, no TV’s or radios. Whilst it may feel odd at first, trust the process I guarantee you will find your evening will feel much longer as a result. Use the time to cook a wholesome meal, go for a walk, take a bath, read a book or a magazine. The key is to let your mind switch off so your body can relax.
Day 7: Pamper yourself
When was last time you pampered yourself? Pampering yourself does not mean you need to book into an expensive spa. Instead, you do a pampering session at home. Paint your nails, put on a face mask, take an Epsom salt bath, get an early night. Whatever it may be make your body a priority and shower it with love.
