A few of my favorite things …
Your favorite book? My favorite book is always changing, but the one book that truly changed my life was Psychocybernetics by Maxwell Maltz. Maltz was a plastic surgeon but he was fascinated by the way his clients’ self image – not their appearance – affected their whole life. It was the first time I’d read anything suggesting we can change our lives just by changing our thoughts.
What books are you reading now?
Floor Sample – A Creative Memoir by Julia Cameron
What is your favorite city?
Paris. A little closer to home in the UK, I love Edinburgh and Cambridge.
What are some of your favorite stores?
Neals Yard Remedies for gorgeous-smelling natural beauty products.
Foyles Bookshop in London is my kind of shopping heaven.
For clothes shopping, I like Jigsaw and Toast.
What is your daily uniform?
Indigo bootcut yoga jeans and a fitted shirt. I’m usually wearing something blue and/or with stripes. (I LOVE stripes!)
What jewelry do you wear every day?
Just my wedding ring and the heart pendant my husband bought me a few Christmases ago.
Whose work currently inspires you?
Dana Dinnawi. Christina Greve. Rachael Lucas. Danielle LaPorte. Marie Forleo. Julia Cameron. Richard Branson.
What is the last thing you did last night?
I let the cat in, then kissed my children goodnight.
What is the first thing you did this morning?
These days, I wake up feeling really happy. So the first thing I do is anchor that with a few minutes of gratitude and prayer. Then I set my intention for the day, usually something like: Today I will choose Joy. Then I go and round up my children for the school run. (Which can sometimes challenge my good intentions!)
What is the screensaver on your phone?
A picture of Joan of Arc, to remind me of what’s possible.
What do you eat for breakfast?
Wholegrain gluten free toast & local honey.
What do you eat for dinner?
Whatever my husband has just watched on a cookery program. I’m very lucky – he’s a fabulous, creative and happy cook. He also cooks gluten-free very well. (I was diagnosed Coeliac as a baby.)
If you could relive one moment from your life what would it be?
My wedding day. We got married nearly 20 years ago in a medieval castle in Scotland. And the sun shone gloriously all day, even though it was November – and Friday 13th!
What’s the biggest perk of being you?
That I know my life purpose and I get to live it daily.
What’s your favorite song?
Your Song by Elton John. (And Ellie Goulding)
