Surroundings That Support The Best Version Of You
Do you wish to live beautifully in your surroundings, to create a loving, safe space you and your family can call home? Do you want to keep it working hard for you practically, but also inspire you to be or do more?
My husband always says that he knows when I am home. He says the mood, the smell and the air is different, the house is warmer, sounds and looks different and feels full of life in a nice way.
There is something you create in a home, just by being you and I wish to help you express that part of you, because it will exude the five senses of who you really are as well as those you live with.
At the beginning of every year, I clean my home in preparation for the year ahead. I do this after I answer the following questions and I challenge you to answer them right now too:
- Last year (or when I moved here), who did I want to be and how did I want to live my life?
- Who do I want to be now and how do I want to live my life now?
Now look around at your home. Is it part-way between both of these places? Who you are becoming and who you have been?
The chances are, unless you have recently moved, redecorated or are super trendy; you will probably be somewhere in the middle, or probably like most, somewhere in the past.
My aim this month is to inspire you to have a vision for every space that not only inspires you to be but also makes it easier to be the better version of who you want to be… Then purge!
You aren’t alone if you find clearing out things difficult but if you think about who you want to be and whether an item still serves or has served its purpose, then why not remove that energy from where you are now?
Figuring out which items you want to keep in your life is figuring out how you want to live your life – examine and assess your lifestyle and the life you want to lead right now. How do you want to live, work, rest and play?
When de-cluttering, organizing and refreshing your home the next few weeks, why not ask yourself when you walk into each space, whether it still represents you and who you live with and where you are all heading?
Oprah Winfrey says, “Your home should rise up to greet you.”
What if you set a goal for your home to represent you and your life by the end of this year? What if it represented health, fun, success and happiness? What would that look like for you?
